Learning by Doing, Giving Back

The skills our young people learn at New Roots are embedded and applied on live work projects. Vocational skills are a part of their journey with us. How does New Roots relate these to the workplace?

We do this by incorporating live projects within our work – when attending projects young people learn the expectations of the workplace; hard work, time keeping, staying safe, conducting yourself in a positive way and staying off their phones etc. Most of all – giving something back to our community.

Our facility

Immersed in the World of Construction

New Roots offers our learners a truly unique workshop experience. With the support of Vistry Group we utilise their bespoke construction training facility at the Matford Brook development here in Exeter.

This workshop learning facility is on a secure compound within a live site, meaning our young people are immersed in the world of construction. We have a classroom, full welfare facilities, outdoor learning spaces and much more. It allows us to run site tours where our learners can meet new people and learn first-hand how the construction world operates.
